Russian Hacking Q? How would feel if Russia hacked Google and permanently ...

blew away all your email, or photos? Would that be an act of war, and what should the US do if Russia actually did that?

No, the USA would not be the only one affected, but it would be the only one to decide what it would do, if anything, about it.

lmao 🤣

reply

Why would a hacking operation do that when it's much more lucrative to harvest personal data for analytics?

reply

It's okay because Zuckerberg is not a Russian.

reply

So only the USA would be affected?

reply

A lot of people didn’t notice, but during the lockdown, the USA became the USE (the United States of Earth) and all now bow to our mighty orange Messiah.

reply

All joking aside, I do get annoyed at posts that seem to think that the USA is the only country on the planet (and this is coming from someone who holds an American passport).

reply

Unfortunately, that kind of narrow US-centric attitude that a lot Americans have is one of the reasons that many other people from around the world dislike us. Hard to blame them. It’s like how many other countries perceive the French as being super arrogant. There’s probably a good bit of truth in that too (although I can’t confirm that personally as I tend to avoid the French because they creep me out)

Less than 50% of the American Senate hold passports 🤯

reply

Why would they - they've got Jellystone Park.

reply

And Disneyworld.

reply

And Hooters😀

Too poor to travel.

reply

No inclination to travel.

reply

I disagree.. Everyone I know/knew would always say (after I got back from a trip) how much they'd love to travel, but can't afford it. People always talk about making money, and so I'd ask "What would you do?" and almost everyone would say "travel".. Same with those I'd speak to online, but I think there is a couple of loud people (who skew perceived reality) who'd say "Why travel when I live in the greatest country"... My thirst for traveling was so high, I put myself in permanent debt, and don't regret it for a minute, even if things didn't work out (I'm back in the US surrounded by poverty again)

I wouldnt really mind about all the emails i havent bothered deleting. I'd thank them
I look after my own photos on mirrored hard drives.
If you think it would be a reason to go to war I suggest you do the same and dont trust google to look after your shit.

reply

My point was they could do that, and screw over the American people and there is nothing we could really do about it and pout and have a tantrum. I was up on TCP/IP and the internet in the late 80's and I could tell then that this mess of code was going to end up like this with no security. I even have doubts that this is the Russians. It is Americans and the CIA/Defense Dept. that is the world's experts in the net, and Republicans need someone else to point to as the villains these days to justify even more military money.

reply

The biggest threat to a company's IT is the (former) employee. Google is no difference.

reply

That's why you never really learn much by working for a big company like that.

reply

Russia is a terrible country run by gangters.

reply

Wha..?!?

Putin is a well known 'tough guy/awesome guy' meme

You can't be a total piece of shit and be a meme, can you???
