anyone here fans of Bollywood cinema?

Despite Bollywood having become one of the biggest film industries around the globe since the turn of the millennium, it seems like it's still largely seen as a laughing stock in most other parts of the world. More than any other nation perhaps, Bollywood films seem to have become memed and ridiculed most on the Internet. I myself, have yet to meet any fellow movie buffs who seem particularly fond of Indian films. The only other type of film that comes close to being mocked as much, is Ugandan cinema, but even that's seen in a more respectful light as people tend to be much more sympathetic to the technical and budgetary limitations Ugandan filmmakers have to deal with (for obvious reasons).

Perhaps I'm just uncultured and xenophobic, but I have never actually given Indian cinema much of a chance because of this. I'm usually pretty open when it comes to checking out foreign films, but Indian films have never interested me as a result of their reputation (corny musicals, shameless Hollywood rip offs, and ridiculously over-the-top action scenes that defy any and all logic). Is anyone here a fan of it, though? I'm assuming the vast majority of us here didn't grow up in India, right?

Any thoughts?

Hell no. I've seen maybe 20 Indian films and have only enjoyed 3 maybe. And I've never re-watched any of them. The films are too loud, too long, have the editing of a music video and most of them have leads that are trying to act hot.
