Most Consistent Director?

I was talking to my friend about who the most consistent director is. My pick is either Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson, or Paul Thomas Anderson. Obviously these directors didn't make only masterpieces but they are all above average and I would recommend anyone to watch all of their films.

Some directors who I enjoy, such as Ridley Scott or Francis Ford Coppola, have made masterpieces but also really bad films.

What are your thoughts?

Easily Scorsese. More longevity and a higher output than Tarantino, Anderson, or Anderson. He doesn't write his movies but that almost makes it more impressive since he has to choose good scripts or elevate mediocre scripts

I'd add Luchino Visconti, Robert Bresson, and John Cassavetes

David Lynch
Stanley Kubrick
Quentin Tarantino
Christopher Nolan

I find these directors consistent because all of their movies are very entertaining, at least to me.

I don't know of any prolific director who has only directed movies that I like. Sylvester Stallone probably comes the closest. These are all of the movies he directed:

The Expendables
Rambo
Rocky Balboa
Rocky IV
Staying Alive
Rocky III
Rocky II
Paradise Alley

Of those I liked the Rocky movies and Rambo, and The Expendables was okay. I didn't like Paradise Alley, and I'm not sure if I've even seen Staying Alive, but I doubt I'd like it.

Rumor has it that Stallone "ghost directed" his two movies that are credited to George P. Cosmatos (Cobra and Rambo: First Blood Part II), and I like those too. His director's commentary on the home video releases gives weight to the idea that he didn't direct those movies. All he does is tell you what's happening onscreen, as if he's doing a play-by-play commentary for the blind.

So that makes five (or seven if the rumor is true) that I like, one that's okay, one that I don't like, and one that I probably wouldn't like.

Scorsese, Hitchcock, Kubrick, Tarantino, and Bergman would be my picks.

David Fincher's pretty kick ass.
