I am giving up drinking for a month.
Oops. I meant: I am giving up. Drinking for a month.
shareI have my routine. I only drink on weekend. Friday and Saturday. It'ล best to have limits. Drinking is very dangerous addiction. I know plenty of people who died from drinking.
shareDrinking is okay in moderation. I feel bad for alcoholics because society makes alcohol seem like it's classy.
shareThis is just my impression, but it seems the drinking culture has gotten out of hand. Maybe I'm naive, but when I was growing up, drinking was a martini, a couple of cocktails at 5 PM, or a couple of beers with friends. Now, too often, it seems the goal is to get drunk - binge drinking, and so many events that become an excuse to drink. I understand having a few drinks to relax, but why is getting falling-down drunk, sick, or passing out a goal? Or considered "cool?"
Oh well, to each his own.
When I was in college, people would purposely set up a time to get drunk. They'd often say: "I'm going to get so drunk tonight", and their friends would agree. I don't understand how feeling like shit is appealing to them.
shareReminds me of the line from Honkey Tonk Man:
Maybe you need some help with your drinking.
No I do ok by myself.
Hope it goes well.
