Palance. Palance was lean and mean, Wayne was so stiff he couldn't move.

Of course Wayne was so large he wouldn't go down easily, but Palace would have known to pick up a rock or a railroad tie to help the process along.

Ex-boxer, really? Yeah! Google tells me he was a pro boxer!

Wayne was a big guy, but he really was incredibly stiff, slow-moving, and physically awkward. For all his size, it's obvious that a smaller person who knew how to fight could take him apart.

Well, it was rumour that Woody Strode actually kick him in the head at the set of Libarty Valance.

Betcha Strode could have done a lot more than one kick!

He was a big, hyper-fit, muscular man, but unlike Wayne, he moved with grace and power. And two seconds of googling told me he'd been a decathalete, pro football player, and WWII soldier before becoming an actor, he's another who could have taken the stiff Wayne apart.
