What did you watch this week my beautiful people? (23/08-29/08)

Hey hey! Your looking pretty good today. Changed something?

Anyways, here’s what I watched this week y’all:

Skyfall (2012 TV): I think this might be the James Bond movie with the most beautiful cinematography ever and, although it has its fare share of flaws and nonsensical moments, it won me over with its tremendous amount of overzealous action and testosterone. My rating: 7.5/10

Begin again (2013 TV): I just want to start by saying that my wife absolutely loved it. Personally, I did not enjoy the music and the drama wasn’t really good. The movie is a musical-drama so... yeah. The actors were alright though. 5/10

Child’s Play 2 (1990 DVD): I have to face it now; I’m a bigger Chuky fan than I thought I was. I mean, when I was young I thought he was cool and he freaked me out, well it turns out I still do and he still does. The first I rated 8.5 and the sequel was almost as great. It’s pure genius at work folks. Simple as that. 8/10

Child’s play 3 (1991 DVD): This is the only Chucky movie I had actual memories of because I saw it twice and it’s the last one I saw as a kid. It is a drop from the first two but perfection can only go so far my friends. That being said, I’m ready to knife fight anybody that claims that this is a bad movie. It is actually an above average one AND it’s funny. Best line: “Now assume the position”. 2nd best line: “Man, I really gotta get out of this body!” My rating: 7/10

Movies and series of the week:
Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020) - Expected more (metal) music, but still innocent fun. Had a good time, I'm glad that they made the movie. 7/10 for the moment, maybe higher in a few weeks when most excellent casual translations ("Volle Kanne Hoschies") become available.

Official Secrets (2019) - Slow but powerful. It lacks distance and clearly takes position. Happens to be close enough to my take on the subject, so, 8/10

Lawrence of Arabia (1962) - To me, the best-looking 4k release of the year. 10/10

Orígenes secretos (2020) - Quirky and cheap turn at the "Unbreakable" theme. Spanish social commentary gets mostly lost in poor dubbing. 7/10 for the Spanish version.

I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang (1932) - A brave movie, not only for its time. 9/10

Mortal Engines (2019) - Convoluted and ambitious vanity project. Paused at ~2/3 runtime, will possibly get back to it.

Lucifer Season 5 ep 1-8 (2020) - Feels stretched.

Hadn't heard of this show. I love 90's settings and coming of age stuff so it looks pretty good.

If you can add Brit/Irish comedy to 90s and coming of age, this is it.

You will dig it.

Oh, that's where the shoe might pinch...

After Hours (1985) - A pretty underseen movie that was very good, where everything (and more) that can possibly go wrong does. It was entertaining. (8/10)

How Do You Know (2010) - Not a well-liked movie at all, but I thought it was decent with some good stuff. Jack Nicholson's last role. (high 6/10)

Late Spring (1949) - The biggest reason I enjoyed this movie was that Setsuko Hara was such a damn delightful actress. I'd like to bring her to the present and marry her. (8/10)

The Wind Rises (2013) - A stunning movie and my favorite Studio Ghibli movie I've seen. I was disappointed to find out that there are so many people that hate this movie. Beautiful animation and a fantastic story. It was robbed of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. (8/10)

Analyze This (1999) - It was good. There were some parts where I thought it could have been better. (7/10)

After hours is on my list

How do you know's cast looks good but the movie not so much.

I saw Analyze this back then but was maybe a bit young for this type of movie... didn't leave a good impression on me but I remember it wasn't bad.
