anyone been to a movie theater since they opened?

how was it?

reply

I've been three times since the middle of July. I got to see Ghostbusters, Twister, and The Karate Kid on the big screen and had a great time. I will be going to see Tenet next week and I want to watch New Mutants. As far as how the experience was I just wore a bandana around my face, the seats that were for sale in each screening were 7 feet apart and they cleaned the theater in between shows.

I went to Back to the Future back in June, I already mentioned that before.

reply

they just opened here last week

reply

Wow, that's a pretty long time. Here they closed in March and opened again in early June.

reply

No. I was tempted to go see Empire Strikes Back but my mom talked me out of it. Business looked pretty slow there, though. I think it would have been easy to distance.

I've been three times since they re-opened. I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark, Empire Strike Back and Spongebob. It was a good experience. Everyone wore masks and the seats were reserved with reduced capacity. I'm going to see Tenet tomorrow.

reply

how many people have been there?

reply

Not a lot. I think around 10-12 people or less each time

reply

No
Not since Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

I don't know how theaters will make it quite honestly, they pay the studios a huge cut of the box and now with limited seating rules...how do they keep the place open?

reply

i saw 1917 in january.

reply

Very good movie, quite a convincing technical feat

I caught it on Plex at home

Concession sales are what keeps theatres open. Movie theaters actually make very little money from actual ticket sales. It's the overpriced Popcorn and Soda that makes them billions.

reply

I've read that up to 70%
of ticket sales go to the studios...

Minus facility costs, minus payroll...theaters were on a thin margin to start with

reply

It depends on how long it plays. The first few weeks most of the money goes to the studios but for films that have legs and play for a long time the theaters make a higher cut.

reply

I did not know how that worked

Seeing Tenet on Monday in IMAX. Can't wait.

reply

Well I’ve actually been wishing they would keep pushing back some of the new releases until after this passes but I really want to see Tenet at the IMAX.

reply
