cLoSeD *** BAKER'S DOZEN - American movies that were set NOT in America at all ***

No single scene of USA, e.g., Cast Away, while most of the movie was set in an island, doesn't count. Also fictional places like Gotham City, Star Wars galaxy, etc. don't count.

The other sticky issue is "American movies." I've found that a lot of films are joint productions with another country. You did not specify if that is okay. If not, it becomes more difficult to find titles that satisfy everything. There are probably 13 somewhere.

reply

As long as it was produced by an American company it counts.

I'm still a little confused about setting vs filming location, for example Mutiny on the Bounty (1962) has a couple of USA filming locations but none of the movie takes place in the USA. You could say the same for Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2002). Both are American movies

reply

As far as I'm concerned, where a movie is filmed has nothing to do regarding where the story is set.
For example, the Kristen Stewart film, Camp X-Ray, was filmed in Los Angeles but the story is set in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Therefore, I believe that Camp X-Ray would be acceptable as an answer to this Baker's Dozen, just as Mutiny on the Bounty and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World are as well.

reply

Yes, you're right.
