I realise that there might be an overlap with New Wave, Synth Pop and even Krautrock, but we’ll get to those later.

I would add OMD, Level 42 and Alphaville to the list. Would "The The" make the criteria?

OMD were on the fringes of the New Romantic movement, but really qualify as Synth Pop.

Level 42 started out as a Jazz Funk band, before hitting the big time and going Pop.

The The were always part of the Alternative crowd.

Very short; 1980-1982 inclusive.

It's funny because it was at the same time as New Wave (early Blondie, Talking Heads etc).
