I didn't like it at all, and I've never spent much time in the Star Wars fandom so I wasn't familiar with the criticisms of it and the fact that it was unpopular, so that didn't influence my experience. I just watched it and thought it was really bad.

I recently rewatched the Prequels for the first time since I saw them at the cinema on their original releases. Unfortunately, I was still disappointed with Phantom Menace; Attack Of The Clones was only slightly better, but Revenge Of The Sith was a good film.

I feel that part III is underrated, as it gets lumped in with the other two Prequels. The first one is sadly, awful.

I feel about the same....Menace was bad, silly, lame, but okay for the kiddies...ep II was a slightly better okay and ep III was decent and had an uphill battle to climb because the first two were so maligned....

But as a group of 3, it did turn me off to the series I very much enjoyed as a youth, so much that I have watched those 3 just a few times and new 3 I have yet to watch nor do I think I ever will....Disney, from what I understand....interesting, highest bidder I take it, I guess Amazon Studios wasn’t ready to make a bid yet....

Agreed.

the people i know who hated tpm but loved force awakens and then realized the sequels were ALL shit as the next two were released will never be forgiven by me.

i go out of my way to watch movies that have 0.5 star ratings on letterboxd, because i like a challenge & i like being an annoying person who is the only guy to enjoy such and such movie.

but this is one of the cases where i am happy to jump on the bandwagon. i think tpm is the worst large budget widely released film i've ever seen.

there seems to be a consensus that's developed to the effect that aotc is worse, but at least that one has a bit of energy to it, a few exciting action moments, even if they are all digitally bland and glossy.

phantom menace is one of the most empty, dull movies i think i've ever seen. i don't hate it. there's nothing in it to hate. it's just a void, a bland dull bit of nothingness that exits my head as quickly as it enters.

It's ok. It has some good moments. If you can ignore Jar Jar and Anakin's acting then it's not too bad.

Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor were great jedi, and the musical score by John Williams was excellent.

The duel with Darth Maul is still the best fight scene in the saga to date imo.

I also enjoy Revenge of the Sith as well. I like that more than Return of the Jedi and the Disney Saga.

The only prequel i really dislike is Episode II. The Geonosis arena battle was the only good thing in that.

It's alright, a 7/10. I don't think it is better than the next two prequels or Return of the Jedi or the Disney Star Wars movies.

I enjoyed TPM very much. Liam Neeson was a great Jedi master and made me wish he had a bigger role that spanned all three movies. Loved the underwater sequence. Loved the pod race. The Darth Maul reveal to the opening notes of Duel of the Fates and the subsequent duel were some of the most amazing moments in Star Wars history.

The things that most people complain about -- Jar Jar, Jake Lloyd -- never bothered me at all.
