Timestamps on the posts here
Why are they always '9 days ago' and '3 years ago', rather than just the date and time the post was made?
Apologies if this has been addressed before.

Yes, it has been addressed before. I myself have mentioned several times that I'd like to see a more precise timestamp, but it doesn't seem the owner of this site is planning on any significant changes.
shareThe site is pretty basic. There isn't a search function for posts or threads either. And the mods are anonymous.
shareIt seems like it's been quite a while since the site was last improved at all. We could use some more features, of which timestamps would be a good one.

You're being very kind. This site is backwards.
😎
To each their own, but the simplicity of this site is great. I literally won't use other boards because they don't have a simple, clean and practical design like this one.
The notifications are a major improvement over IMDB's old boards, but I miss the emojis.
I agree; I like the simplicity of this site compared to most others nowadays that are just too packed with unnecessary computer-lagging detail. Still, it would be nice if a few improvements were made. Like bringing back the emojis as you said.
shareA thumbs up option or some way to acknowledge a post would be good too especially when you don't have anything to add.
sharePersonally I don't think I'd like that very much. An upvote feature would almost certainly include a downvote feature too, if not immediately then down the road, and I've seen how that can be abused on sites like Reddit where people use it to gang up on anyone with an unpopular opinion. I'd prefer to just keep it to discussion without likes/dislikes or upvotes/downvotes.
shareI’m mad about no emojis as well!🤬😡
shareYep, a search function would be very welcome. But at least the mods aren't too trigger happy and censoring of unpopular opinions.
sharewe have been abandoned by jim.
shareit would be nice
shareOne obvious reason is that there are 24 time zones on our planet.
So, which time zone should be the one used?
Also, the day you post might not be the same day that someone else is reading it even though they're reading it exactly when you post. For example, it's 7:10 PM on July 27th where I live. In Australia however, it's already 28 July.
Even though you don't like it, doing away with the date and hour is much simpler.
I'm pretty sure IMDb had it to where each user's account was set to their own time zone and all dates on the site were shown to them accordingly. Lots of other websites have this too. Not sure why this shouldn't be feasible for Moviechat.
shareKK, you're right, it's a basic plugin used in sites like this all over the net.
CKid, as KK pointed out above, you should be able to select your time zone when you log in based on where you are. The site will then display everything relative to your time. If you're not logged in, you'll see the time based on the location of the host for this website. It's a very basic function / plugin that a ton of sites, including IMDb use, so no technical issues there.
When are the gonna supply the names of the directors of the damned movies on this site as a hyperlink? I have to navigate to IMDb to find that out. So annoying.

Are you MovieManCin3?
shareThanks for the replies, everyone. Yes, this site could be improved a bit here and there, but I'm very glad that we have it, esp. the old threads & posts from IMDb. I'd like to see this site grow a lot more and get busier over time. The simple, clean interface is actually a good thing IMO - don't like tons of ads and distracting stuff all over the page.
Timestamps are very basic and ubiquitous as far as plugins go, Ã la social media icons. Hopefully the admins can incorporate them sometime.
I think a search function would be useful.
shareYou can use google to search this site.
https://google.com/search?q=site%3Amoviechat.org+star+wars+sucks
Search only The Force Awakens board.

Not all pages are indexed.
That's a useful tip, thanks.
