Planet of the Apes
Like that movie?
Are the remakes as bad as I suspect they are? (really bad. and I'm not sure if there were more than one)

The newest versions are decent except for part III which is terrible. 🤷🏻♂️
shareAlso, “GODDMAN YOU!! GODDAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!!”
(Thanks, I feel a lot better.)
the recent trilogy was decent despite the cgi
shareI saw the originals when they all first came out. The first movie is a sci-fi classic. It was an event at the time. Everyone saw it and everyone was talking about. The sequels all melt together in my mind. A couple of them are in these so bad that they’re fun to watch category.
The first movie was great.
i love the original 68 version, and i think a few of the sequels are pretty good. beneath is a solid followup with a bleak ending, escape is silly but also tragic (don't laugh at me - i cried!), and battle is underappreciated.
i think the tim burton remake is a bit of a snooze and really underwhelming.
but i absolutely loved each one of the three new ones that came out this past decade. in fact, i think that's the rare trilogy where each film improved on the one that came before it. the final film isn't liked by some, but i thought it was fantastic, a perfect conclusion. it's one of the few big budget blockbuster films that i can describe as being soulful or elegiac without wanting to vomit in disgust.
The remakes are worse than you would imagine. But the original 1968 one is a true classic. The 4 original sequels are all worth seeing too.
shareNothing beats the original. The remakes without marky mark were good.
shareRise, Dawn and War were fantastic. That trilogy is possibly the finest reboot of a film franchise to date.
