Favorite Japanese anime?

I've watched a lot of anime, prefer the more "mature" and developed kind(although stuff has to actually be happening, otherwise wtf?) but I guess it's easy for "anime fans" to have extremely different ideas of what makes a good anime.

My favorite anime is actually a videogame, Asura's Wrath. It counts.

I recently watched Hinamatsuri, very funny and weird, I love series like that with humanity and cruelty mixed together. Inuyashiki was also brilliant. Also, Parasyte. Very similar art style and atmospheres.

Magical Girl is my favourite genre and I love Wedding Peach because it's such a silly concept.

Check The Demon Girl Next Door (Machikado Mazoku), about a magical girl and a demon girl becoming friend-enemies. Silly, but funny as hell.
