Reason we are here is fundamentally because our movie experience is at least good, otherwise we would not have a passion to share. The material plays a huge part. Without it, well, Hollywood would not even exist.

DVD player, TV, VHS player, receiver, speakers, what-ever.

One reason for this thread is I am questioning these made in china products. Are they good. I believe many vintage material especially the ones made in Japan gives a better movie experience. I would even go as far as saying made in china products killed entertainment.

Furthermore, I have a Sony D1011 receiver from the 90's and I think the sound is smooth, resolving and just excellent. A very powerful receiver. But, y'know, sometimes you just happen to have a good dvd player that converts the digital to analog brilliantly, and just like that, with your tv, the experience happens to be just what you need. Nothing fancy. Just the basic. Can be synergy, or, just a matter of taste.

Nothing too elaborate here.

I have a 43" Vizio V436-G1 with a Vizio soundbar. I also have an Xbox one for playing 4K Blu-Rays, 1080 Blu-Rays and DVDs.

Up until about a year ago I also kept a VCR hooked up and would even use it occasionally to play VHS movies. This was purely for the nostalgia, but I think I'm officially over that at this point.

I live in a small apartment and my system is much more music oriented than movie oriented.

reply

Slim. I'll upgrade once ps5 is out. But under two weeks till TLOU2 is out, can't wait.

reply

Only 2 weeks? I expected a longer wait when they announced the delay.

reply

I expected a longer wait too but luckily it'll be out on the 19th. But i might wait until the summer is over till I get it, I don't feel like sitting inside and playing videogames right now when it's warm outside :D

reply

I've always had a rule that I don't play PS4 during the day. Just feels wrong.

no computers in use then? Every screen I have has an old pc behind it - it makes the screen far far smarter than any so called "smart" tv.
A pc does the job of nearly all the boxes listed , but in just one box.

reply

I do. My PC is connected to both a computer monitor and a bigger TV. They can be used at the same time for different tasks, maybe browsing on the computer monitor and playing a movie on the TV screen simultaneously. I also has a DVD player connected to the TV, but not to the computer monitor.

Oh, and two seperate sound systems are connected to the PC do I can choose my Bose stereo desktop speaker for music or the 5.1 sound system for movies. However, I prefer the stereo. It's simpler and not as distracting as surround sound.

reply

why not just use/get the dvd player in the pc?

reply

My PC doesn't have a DVD player. Also it's very seldom I get to play any DVD. I only deal with digital nowadays.
