Your Top 10 Favorite War Films

Someone recently posted a “what’s your favorite film” topic and that’s quite a chore for most of us.

Let’s break it down into some genres and post up to 10 titles. So what’s everyone’s favorite war films?

I’m a big fan of The Guns of Navarone. My favorite scene is when Mallory tells Miller his by standing days are over.

Dam Busters!!! Yeah, great choice there, I forgot about it!

I wonder if Peter Jackson is still planning on remaking it? I haven't heard about any developments there in ages.

reply

Neither have I, tim74.
It's a shame because I got real excited when I heard that he was going to do a remake, but as you stated, it's been a very long time since there was any news about it, so I assume that the remake will, unfortunately, not happen.

That being said, The Dam Busters is one of the many films I've purchased on DVD since this darned lockdown has been going on, and even though it's quite old (black & white - not in widescreen), I still enjoyed watching it again after all these years.

reply

I’ve never heard of this one but I’ll seek it out now! Thanks!!

We Were Soldiers is the only one I can think of that hasn't already been mentioned.

reply

I'll add to what's already been mentioned

Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970)
The Imitation Game (2014)
Das Boot (1981)
Cromwell (1970)
Conspiracy (2001)
The Gathering Storm (2002)
Into the Storm (2009)
Midway (1976)
