Fat Bastard from Austin Powers

Whats the best accent you've ever heard ..and you know a lot of movies so impress me.

reply

I totally disagree, I think his American accent stinks.

I always believed Trevor Goddard was really Australian.

reply

Not to be argumentative but how can I trust you with an american accent.. English isn't your first language right?

reply

Lol, you don't think I can hear the difference? I probably hear more people speak English than Dutch on any given day. He does that annoying nasal and exaggerated American R thing that a lot of British actors tend to do.

reply

Well I'll stand by Hugh. My ear for off songs and off accents is strong. .but what is your first language dutch or english.

reply

It's Dutch, but I have no problem whatsoever detecting accents in English.

reply

Well hugh laurie on house was unbelievable good...I'll let moviechat sort it out.

reply

His accent was very grating.

reply

I will fight you on this one.. thats how much i believe. But until the Uk guys weigh in its all speculation.

reply

I hope that didn't come off in a bad way. I think its really cool that we have so many people here who speak different languages.

Mia Wasikowska (Australian) speaking with an American accent. This was her first acting job outside of Australia. Clip from ' In Treatment ' (2008)

I had NO idea that Rachel Griffiths on Six Feet Under was Australian. No idea whatsoever. Her American accent was spot-on-perfect.

Two come to mind right away, though I don't know if their affected accents are authentic; but I was thoroughly convinced they were British.

Daniel Davis - Best known as Niles on The Nanny (which I didn't watch), his performance as Professor Moriarty on Star Trek: The Next Generation absolutely made me think he was a Brit. He was born and raised in Arkansas.

Jonathan Harris - As Dr. Smith on Lost in Space. It was only a few years ago that I found out he was born and raised in The Bronx, NYC. I was flabbergasted, I never questioned that he was a Brit.

Ones that surprised me... Damien Lewis from Billions and Homeland. Eddie Marsan (Terry) and Paula Malcomson (wife) in Ray Donovan.

Helen Mirren knows how to rock a Russian accent

It’s gotta be Christopher Plummer as General Chang from Star Trek VI. Spot on Klingon accent of someone from the Gzrikkul’qopleh province of Qo’noS.

Sacha Baron Cohen in Borat

Jimmy O. Yang in Silicon Valley. He grew up in Hong-Kong, so he can actually speak chinese, but when he speaks in english, he has a perfect american accent now irl. But on the show it's hilarious.
