When I was young...
It seemed that life was so wonderful...

Every time I listen to this I become a little more regretful. 😢
I often forget how incredibly talented he was.
You're a survivor, Kissy. As are we all. Thousands of people everyday fail that test. I promise you there are people who would consider themselves privileged to hear your story.
I'm one.
William Wordsworth’s Ode: Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood.
“Splendour in the Grass
What though the radiance
which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass,
of glory in the flower,
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind;
In the primal sympathy
Which having been must ever be;
In the soothing thoughts that spring
Out of human suffering;
In the faith that looks through death,
In years that bring the philosophic mind.

He's saying that we will embrace old age and appreciate the things that come with it. I love the fact that I've made it this far.
shareSorry Cruz, I have not embraced old age. It’s a curse! There’s nothing good that comes with it. I’ve often said maybe it would be a good thing to die young. A person wouldn’t have to live to see all of their family die, to see all the friends s/he has known since high school drop one by one. To grieve for them when they’ve lost a child.
I recall my deceased sweet mom saying to me “I don’t know what’s so good about getting old, you spend all your time going to doctors and getting scripts filled!”
At age 18 I was convinced that I wouldn't live to see 30. For good reason - I was completely wild. But now, after the many things that should have killed me, I miss having a yougER body but you couldn't threaten or torture me back into the immature mind I had 30 years ago.
In jail we called the "children" jitterbugs. All that energy and zero focus. Recipe for disaster.
But then they sent me away to teach me how to be sensible,
Logical, oh responsible, practical.
