MAD comics are lame and aged really bad.

reply

Well, to be fair lots of things are pretty lame and we all age badly

MAD was a childhood staple and I still remember how all the kids would read them and trade them around the neighborhood
Fun stuff👍

reply

I remember reading a Popeye movie parody in MAD as a kid and one thing being funny enough I couldn't help laughing out loud during our quiet time in class. Pretty embarrassing!

reply

Yeah, I found a lot of it laugh out loud funny too

I met Sergio Aragones at a comic shop one time and he signed my Groo The Wanderer comics and drew a little sketch for me
That man is a gent

reply

I also met Sergio! Agreed, he's a gent. Nice man.

reply

Class act all the way👍

By comparison I met Richard and Wendy Pini, the creators of the great Elfquest comic at a different shop when I was a kid...Elfquest was a favorite of mine, it really was a great story so I was jazzed!

They showed up an hour late, barely said a word to us little kid devoted fans and couldn't clear out fast enough:/
What a bummer

reply

Aww. How disappointing for little Shogie :(. Some people suck.

reply

Silver lining, I learned that day at the comic book shop in Hastings On The Hudson that even your idols can be total ballbags LOL

reply

LOL, it's true, but it's a hard lesson for a kid at the time. Even now if I met one of my idols and it turned out they were a jerk, I'd still be disappointed.

reply

I never read the magazine but I enjoyed this skit from the TV show.

Great stuff. He really knew how to capture their expressions and give them a comic twist.

The guy was super skilled
91 is a pretty good run
