Grocery delivery

Has anyone ever done this?

I was thinking about trying it.

I imagine it depends on where you live, who you're ordering from, whether they can completely fill your order, and how long it will take to get it.

I was thinking it might be a good way to avoid the coronavirus...but then again...the shopper could have coronavirus. Maybe amazon pantry might be safer.

I know what you mean. I made a quick online order from Target today for a couple of things that were urgent. Even though the pickup was quick with minimal time spent and very little interaction with others, you just don't know how many folks have touched your product and whether they're a carrier of the virus.

I know grocery stores around here are waiving fees for plastic bags and asking people not to use their reusable bags as they could carry the virus.

I think it's a good idea to carry hand sanitizer and then wipe things down when you get home that you would use soon. I've read that it can live on surfaces anywhere from 12 hours to 3 days.

I do think that delivery would be safer than going to the store as you wouldn't be touching as many surfaces and soap and water is much more convenient , but it might be more difficult to get some things.

I didn't think about the reusable vs single-use bags. Sounds like a valid point to me. And yes, delivery or pickup orders have the advantage of less exposure to the virus via other shoppers. Nothing we can do about the folks who pick, process, and deliver our orders, but I'll take the safer route.

I did this for the first time yesterday. I ordered on-line and will pickup on Monday - that was the first time available.

Will see how it goes - we still have plastic bags here, so I don't think that will be a problem. When I get home I will wipe everything down with a clorox wipe before I put it away. I might leave anything in a paper or cardboard container in my car for a few days before bringing it in.

Honestly, if it weren't for my husband who is in a very high risk group, I probably wouldn't be going to this extreme with groceries.
