1917 was extremely disappointing
Very slow, I kept waiting for something to happen and it never did. Starting to wonder if I should even bother with Parasite.

shareI liked the movie, but agree it was slow at times. The beginning scenes in the trenches actually made me dizzy and I had to look away a few times.
shareI watched part of Parasite, but didn't like it so just stopped. If 1917 is like Dunkirk then I wouldn't like it. No dialogue, just a recreation that it's better to just watch the actual newsreels on. I thought Darkest Hour was good: good drama, acting, and realistic with a few artistic license moments. I'll see 1917 soon and update this.
shareWhat does one film have to do with the other?
And why does a "moviebuff" drag his feet and navel gaze every step of the way?
but maybe I should wait to see if you delete this in a few hours and 180 your appraisal as you did with Uncut Gems.
It’s because his favorite movie of all time was snubbed at the Academy Awards but the two he cited were not.
shareWhat's funny is that he was clearly disappointed even after seeing The Irishman, but he eventually talks himself back into the initial appraisal he somehow makes before seeing these films. The Uncut Gems flipflop was hilarious. Within hours it all changed somehow.
shareI still liked The Irishman, I just had built it up so much. 1917 was just not good.
shareNot at all, it just wasn’t good
shareI won’t, it wasn’t good
shareThe slow TV show and movie is something writers do to rip you off. They have an idea, a concept, but no real story.
So many TV shows are like that and if I see that happening, I'm out.
I was into it from start to finish. One of the best in the year, IMO.
