Did people ever collectively watch tv in a bar? (Storytelling device)

I notice movies do this a lot. They have people in a bar watching something on tv and giving their two cents.

It’s a storytelling device to provide the peoples say.

But did or does this ever happen?

One of my fav sports movies "Slap Shot" (1977) had a group of hard core amateur hockey players/fans at a bar watching a soap opera on daytime TV. They had some choice words regarding the female lead. (They don't use this word in movies anymore)

"Not my 260 Z?" (Man lying in hospital bed, bandages on head)
"Yes don't you remember , I sold it when you gave me power of attorney."

There are a series of "Game of Thrones reactions" videos on YouTube from a bar that used to host GoT watch parties.
