Do you like chicken wings?

I mean real chicken wings, not boneless.

Breaded or unbreaded? How hot? Ranch or blue cheese?

I like traditional buffalo style, unbreaded nice and hot w blue cheese, celery and blue moon

reply

Fried, with lots of garlic.

Ha😂 I used to hunt with a crazy guy from Queens who sang a song on the drive out to the woods

'Chicken Wing
Chicken Wing
I like hanging with my homies
I like meatballs and macaroni
Give me fried baloney'

He sang this every time in the car
He was very addicted to the pills, hell knows what was in them, the guy was a bit 'off'

Anyway, yes, I love the hot wings but not the Atomic hot ones

reply

Haha weird story. What were you hunting, buffalo?

reply

Just Deer
He may have been hunting Unicorns for all I know!

He went through a divorce several years ago and dropped off the map...I should check in with him again, he was a terrific lunatic

reply

I found his number on my old phone
I have a call to make👍

It's strange how chicken wings used to be the least wanted piece of the chicken, now they are an item unto themselves. It was a genius marketing move by somebody, somewhere to sell them as a snack with sauce and dip. I don't mind them, but the wrong sauce can ruin the whole deal. I prefer good old fashioned barbecue sauce.

reply

I don't particularly care for wings as served in a bar-restaurant (all that sauce). I like wings as part of an overall chicken dinner, whether roast chicken or fried chicken.

reply

I love buffalo wings with blue cheese but usually only as a takeout order to eat at home. Something about eating them in a restaurant that seems way too messy.

reply

I like boneless.

Chicken wings are messy to eat and lack a satisfying amount of meat.

Also, the skin, if the fat isn't melted away, has a gross taste that makes me want to vomit.

reply

If you bake them in the oven most of the fat burns off and what little fat remains adds flavor

Start with frozen wings, get the oven up to 400 degrees and spread the wings on a rack above a cookie sheet, bake for one hour and 15 minutes, flip them halfway through

*Pro Tip...toss some onion rings or french fries in the oven with 20 minutes to go and melt half a stick of butter and a big splash of Frank's Hot sauce or better yet Sriracha in a pan for tossing👍

You'll need a lot of beer, send the wife out for that, Wings are serious business😎

reply

I like that idea!

I like chicken skin if the fat is rendered off but it not it really gets me!

Last night I was at a party with Latin people. They made pork roast with the skin on, and it became crispy with no fat left and damn----that was tasty!!

reply

The Dominicans and Puerto Ricans I know cook (in an oven or crockpot) a pork shoulder low and slow...They call it Pernil, it has lots of spices and takes 5-6 hours and requires a great deal of marination and soaking the day before for flavor

It's a bit of work but the sides are easy enough (yellow rice, Fried plantains and beans)

I've cooked this feast several times with my Lady, it's an amazing meal

The Latin folks know what's up in the kitchen

reply

Yes, it was something like that.

Not sure how the get the skin crispy.

The rice had olives and capers in and was making me more hungry as I ate it, very good.

Also, we had these tiny empanadas, which have a different PR name. Also excellent.

reply

Of course. I don't mind whether it's breaded or unbreaded. But not too hot. Blue cheese sauce sounds good.

reply

Very much. Currently I'm making the transition to vegetarianism, but last week I just had to cheat, and I devoured a pound of unbreaded wings with hot sauce. I like to chew the last piece of meat off of the bones.
