Quality movies are illegally downloaded for free. The studios needed to find a way to get people to pay to see the movies they are making instead of stealing them. You may not like money, but that's how they pay salaries and stay in business. The answer was to make movies with expensive SFX which looks better in a theater. The problem is they are expensive to make. Not enough Americans to offset the costs which is why they want an international audience, too. people who don't speak English may want more visuals instead of subtitles too. Action, SFX and simple plots for all.
If you want quality, just watch TV like I do. Quality moved there.
Quality moved to TV and already left. The golden era of TV has passed, right now there's barely any series that goes close to the ones only a decade ago.
shareGame of Thrones was great. Nothing compares to that one.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Handmaid's Tale, Man in the High Castle, The Crown, Stranger Things, Victoria, The Good Place.
Game of Thrones had some great seasons and some very shitty ones. The problem is that it's a single story, it's not like you can skip the last seasons and watch only the early ones.
The other ones are not bad, but they're neither great.
Only evidence I've seen of that involves simpler, stupid writing (because foreigners who don't speak English can understand running from an explosion better than the complicated context of doing so), and forcing Maverick not to wear an American flag on his shirt in this new dumpster fire of a Top Gun movie.
