First Movie You Remembering Seeing In A Theater?

Howard The Duck (1986).

I remember where we sat, on the left side of the theater.

Yes...Drive in's are theaters:

I also vividly remember my mom covering my eyes in the hot tub scene with Lea Thompson.

reply

I remember some sword fighting movie at the drive-in. As for theater, SW.

reply

The Shaggy D.A. (1976)

reply

I'm pretty sure it was Sasquatch: The Legend Of Bigfoot (76)
I was 3 or 4 and it scared the hell out of me πŸ˜‚

reply

Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang about 1970. We sat on the non-smoking side of the theatre.

reply

It seems unbelievable now that smoking was ever allowed in theatres. Were there ashtrays next to every seat? You might not know, seeing as you sat on the non-smoking side πŸ˜ƒ

reply

The ashtrays were probably built into the arm rest. It's hard to imagine some places that allowed smoking back in the day. We have definitely moved forward.

reply

Probably they were built into the arm rests, but that seems like a recipe for disaster. People twisting in their seats in a dark room to flick ashes right next to upholstered seats and flammable clothing.

reply

Very true.

reply

Hospitals!!

reply

Crazy!

reply

I remember ashtrays being in the armrests, but I also remember them being on the back of the seat in front of you, depending on where you went.

reply

On the backs of seats sounds like a better plan. Unless someone had long hair or a scarf draped over the back of their seat πŸ”₯πŸš’

reply

And the seats were always vinyl.

Tom Thumb (1958) - went to a Saturday afternoon matinee with my older brother and two of his friends.
The film was shown in a huge neighborhood theater that even had a balcony.
Years later, my Junior High School graduation was held there.
Several years after that, it was divided into a four screen multiplex.

reply

I probably went to some kid movies as a young child but Poseidon Adventure is the first one I remember. My aunt and uncle took me to the drive-in thinking I would fall asleep in the car so my parents could take care of my sick sister at home. I watched the whole movie.

reply

5 years old and my first movie with my Dad was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs :)

reply

The Poseidon Adventure (1972).
