What was the last film you watched in 2019?

I ended the year by watching Leprechaun 4: In Space on dvd. It was crazy and fun and I had a good time with it, rating it 7/10. What was the last film you watched in 2019?

reply

Aw that's awesome Allaby, love Leprechaun in Space!

Mine was Successive Slidings of Pleasure (1974).

reply

That sounds interesting. How was it?

Into it! Recommended.
It's 1000% a surrealist/avant-garde art film so people the likes of those who start threads on the 2001: A Space Odyssey board stating that the film is lazy for not explaining what happens after the stargate will definitely not enjoy it, but if you're into Luis Bunuel and such, (I thought it was very Bunuel-esque,) I say give it a check out.

84 Charing Cross Road (1987) on DVD

I loved the film.
Great acting and script.

Blade Runner 2049

Great film! I have it on blu ray. What did you think of it?

reply

I haven't finished it but so far... It's not as good as the first one, but it's still a good movie. I was on the edge of my seat a couple times. Definitely not the horrible failure some people made it out to be. I think if it were judged solely on its own merits we might see a difference of opinion. Capeachy? @;-[P>

I really like this movie. It is a slow burn but the performances and cinematography are stunning.

Great film! My pick for best film of 2019. What did you think of it?

reply

I thought it was brilliant. The second best of 2019 for me, Joker being the best.

Gimme Shelter, 1970
Kind of a tradition. 10/10 one of my all time faves. A great historical document.

reply

That's cool. I haven't seen that one.

It was a fascinating documentary about an art forger titled Art and Craft, from 2014.

The guy had a whole host of mental problems but was BRILLIANT forger. He'd create pieces and then pretend to be a philanthropist who'd inherited great art works from his family. He'd meet with museum curators and donate the pieces, which they happily accepted, so he had his pieces in museums all over the U.S. They couldn't get him legally because he hadn't taken money for them. To him it was just the thrill of knowing he was good enough to have things he'd created in museums and could fool the curators.

That sounds really interesting. I might have to check it out.

It was. His story was fascinating by itself, and he's a very interesting person on his own. Odd, sad, and talented.

reply

That sounds amazing.

It is. I give it a 10/10. It's on Amazon Prime if you have it.
