Films hurt by advertising

Was there ever a film that you thought was hurt by the commercial in the plot or product placement throughout the film?

Get Out (2017) is the first thing came to my mind. The main character unexplicably insists on using Bing search engine is somewhat ruining the movie I guess. Nobody in their right mind would do that.

"Bridge to Terabithia," the remake that came out in the mid-2000s. See, anyone who read the book or saw the cheap 1970s tv movie, knew the kids in the story were using their imagination. You would have never guessed that with this new movie, particularly with the way it was portrayed in the commercials. The commercials made it look like the kids really were creating a magical world with their imaginations, like they had some supernatural power nobody else had. Or they found a portal to a fantasy realm and had to save it.

Then, people (who knew nothing about the story) go to the theater, and were sorely disappointed, and later crying when Leslie died.

How about lack of advertising:
Keanu Reeves did the movie "The Watcher" rather than face a breach of contract lawsuit. However when the time came to promote it he refused to participate and that hurt the box office receipts badly.
