Well actually I would be more inclined to reach for the snippers for this
“Madonna - Fever”
I hated that version. I have no beef with Madge but the Peggy Lee version is one of the sexiest 3 minutes ever recorded, and Madonna somehow made it a clunky, tinny and soulless misfire. It’s extra curious since she’d only recently proved with I’m Breathless that she could kill traditional swing and jazz.
My favourite cover is Maren Morris’ version of ‘Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters’. With respect to the old poof, she sings it better than Elton.

Madonna's I'm Breathless album was fantastic. Your words "she could kill traditional swing and jazz" don't make any sense. The album was praised by music experts, critics and fans. It has sold over 7 mil copies which is great for this genre. Madonna always was risky and made something different. I'm sure, Sooner or Later won the Oscar because of her amazing performance.
American Pie was a very decent cover as well but I see why some ppl hate it.
As for her Fever cover, I hate almost all Fever covers. Beyonce's one is by far the worst. Elvis' one is my favorite. Again, Madonna was trying to make smth different. By that time she already created supersexy anthems Justify My Love and Erotica. I don't blame her for that
Ah sorry I think you misunderstood me! When I said “kill” I meant “do really well”, you know, like “she killed it!!” I’m Breathless is fantastic. My point was that I would have loved to have heard her cover Fever with a more traditional arrangement, although I understand that would have been out of place on the Erotica album.
