Why are seasons of TV shows so short now?

Is it just me or are seasons of shows getting shorter and shorter? Mayans was only ten episodes while I remember Sons of Anarchy churning out 14 + episodes a season. American Horror Story will only be 9 episodes, they use to be 12 + episodes. Now of course you have TWD which drags on with 16 episode seasons, but I think for the most part I dislike how short seasons are getting with TV shows

To be honest I'd prefer a tight set of episodes over 20-24 eps where many of them will just be "fillers" that don't have anything to do with the main story arc.

It's better for binge watching. 12-15 episodes vs 22-26 episodes. I'd rather have the lower number.

I still remember that time where almost every TV show had standard 22 episodes
