Conversations between people in cinema

I never really gave it any thought before and I realize it is to get everything into the shot, but it struck me as amusing the other day how during close up shots of conversations between actors, they’re speaking face to face only a few inches apart. If some started talking to me in real life like that, I’d be like damn you need to back off some buddy.

Ah, you mean in movies. I thought you were talking about conversations between people in a theater. Took me a while lol.

I think its weirder in multi-camera tv shows. Theyre ALWAYS facing the crowd/audience when speaking as opposed to facing each other lol

Yeah, the way people are conveyed talking to each other on camera these days is becoming weirder over time, especially on TV more than in film, I'd say.

I hate when people are so close to each other they can smell each other's breath, but neither one has a problem with this. Even worse is when someone is speaking, but the camera is not on the speaker or the person listening. Another thing I hate is when there are 3 people in the room and person A asks person B a question, and person B responds as if person C asked and directs their answer to person C for no reason whatsoever.
