Chess is a sport, right? My choice then is AlphaGo.

Anyone who is genuinely interested in sports movies should be familiar with the old made for TV movie ...

Brian's Song, with James Caan and Billy Dee Williams.

I'm an NHL fan (ice hockey) so besides Slap Shot, I'm partial to Miracle, which refers to The Miracle On Ice 1980 Winter Olympics. I'm certain there was an alternative film covering the same event but at the moment the title escapes me.

There was a 1981 made-for-TV movie called Miracle on Ice https://moviechat.org/tt0082754/Miracle-on-Ice

The Bad News Bears (1976) - I don't think any other sports movie captures the essence of sport as well as this movie, it's also filled with interesting, colorful, realistic characters and portrays kids as they are, or at least how they used to be, before they were brainwashed by liberals, looking forward to the blu ray releases this month

Escape to Victory (1981) ⚽⚽⚽

i'd go Slap Shot

but lesser discussed good stuff would be:

Les Boys (1997)
The Set-Up (1949)
Net Worth (1995)
