If you were an actor, would you do a nude scene?
My junk would stay off camera even if it was dimly lit.
shareMy junk would stay off camera even if it was dimly lit.
shareI might. It would depend on the context of the scene and who it is with.
shareI think actors are asked to do a lot of things that aren't necessary and have nothing to do with their skill or the end result of their work.
Most likely I would not. But the creators have their own skills to make it look like I was.
I'm a big fan of classic films and they are able to convey so much without even mentioning sex and nudity let alone showing it. So no, I don't think I would.
shareIt looks so much more cinematic when there isn't any nudity.
shareI agree and not just in terms of sex scenes and nudity but anything sexually related. Classic films like the western Shane had this undercurrent of the outsider and the ranchers wife having some kind of attraction for each other but it is never played out at all, never spoken about between the characters. But you feel it is there. It's the same for a lot of classic films. The censorship forced them to be better writers whereas now you just show it.
shareI like seeing shadows and we'll orchestrated love scenes. It looks artsy and classy.
shareNo, probably not. I agree with others that you don't really ever need to actually show the nudity in love scenes to get the point across.
shareI totally would. Wouldn't have to be a sex scene either. I think it's utterly ridiculous that we have such hangups about the human body.
shareI think there are more factors to it than just hangups about the body. For example: maybe they wouldn't want someone in their personal life to watch it, religious reasons, or they don't want it to show up on porn sites (Natalie Portman said she got upset when that happened to her.)
shareBut what are these reasons and why do we have them about the naked body? I mean this as society, not you and I.
I get where Natalie Portman is coming from. I do. I just do not see why we have to perpetuate the notion as a society that nudity=sex. Then a naked body wouldn't have to go to a porn site. I think it's appalling that we have issues with women breast feeding outside of their homes. It's just a breast. It's not porn.
I also think there's an issue, in Hollywood at least, where nudity is more often required for women than men. I can see that turning an actress off thinking that she's being used.
shareThat's an excellent point. Nudity is used far too often in sex scenes, and is almost non-existent in scenes unrelated to sex (either in the scene itself or for the audience).
The only exception I can think of is the charming swimming hole scene in A Room with A View. It even had full frontal.
A good and bad example of nudity can both be found in Schindler's List. The bad: Ralph Fiennes wakes up in the morning next to a naked woman. Her breasts are perfectly visible. It's unnecessary. The good: the shower scenes. There are a lot of women in the shower and the perspective of the camera shows women in the foreground and background to the point where it's unavoidable that there won't be nudity.
shareIf I was drunk I'd be full on Harvey Keitel in Bad Lieutenant (1992)
