Dating is so pointless

I don't think my major actual relationships I've had in my life ever were the result of "dating" per se. They were all people I just knew already, was around in a shared social circle, were already friends to some degree. Anytime I've met a person and "gone on dates" it's all been an exercise in wasted time and discovering you have nothing in common and aren't even that attracted. Maybe some pleasant conversations but you can get that just socializing generally.

I think dating is overrated and a forced, silly situation. People say oh but it's useful to get to know what you want, etc, no it's like that song "last worthless evening." It's nearly always been an evening wasted for me.
