Loch Ness Monster may be a giant eel, say scientists

Researchers from New Zealand have tried to catalogue all living species in the loch by extracting DNA from water samples.

Nessie is so last century
Tell those scientists we need to know what the hell the Chupacabra is and threaten to pull their funding for never capturing a Sasquatch😆

reply

They actually spent time on this.

reply

Yeah, forget cancer research or mining Mars for resources, let's chase a big smelly fish in a lake

reply

We’ve got to hire someone to catch him!

reply

I know a cranky old guy named Quint...he'll find it for $3,000 but he'll catch it, and Kill it, for $10,000

Seems a good deal to me...

They already caught a few chupacabras. It is a type of wolf that licks blood from wounds. The animal really does look like a monster from a horror film though.

HAHAHAHA!

I wonder if scientists like these really take their own research seriously. Throughout history mankind has made up shit. The monster of Loch Ness is a clear example. This was a waste of time and money.

A clever way to get an expenses paid vacation to Scotland.

reply

Kind of gray and rainy over there a lot of the time.

I hear Edinburgh is nice.

Science, like all good endeavors, relies heavily on marketing (how else will others know when something is worthwhile). This means their funding is largely determined by what people are interested in, which gets funneled back to their sponsors.

They, in turn, feel compelled to uphold this veneer for the sake of good appearances to continue to keep that sweet federal money pouring.

Unfortunately, many black nameless birds on the brink of extinction, due to not looking pretty in our eyes, gets last place in the popularity contest.
