Post an original poem

Just for fun, post an original poem (written by you):

"The Journey" (an original poem by Allaby)

Did you stop to count the cost,
before everything was lost?
And was it a beautiful, scary ride,
With the ones you loved by your side?
Did you wake from your dreams?
Was reality as strange as it seems?
Have we won it all,
Or did we watch it fall?
Grasping for something to hold,
Seeking warmth in the coldest cold.
What does it all mean?
What have you seen?
Take a deep breath,
Live life now until death.

I was driving around Canada
I still have the stamina

I saw a moose
and many a goose and stayed at a Ramada

reply

This one is much better. Although I've never heard of Ramada. What are they like? Apparently we have them over here as well.

reply

We stayed at this one. They are good.

that reminds me of Nova Scotia/Newfoundland-Labrador

reply

I have no idea what that area looks like, but the place on that photo is really cool.

Now this is my "journey", Allaby!

I was travelling down a country lane that seemed without an end
Each time my destination came in sight, there appeared another bend
This winding road turned gloomy, the sky as dark as coal
I felt a sense of dread and fear that crept upon my soul
So I hastened my steps to escape a fate, sinister and unknown
My heavy feet surrendered, became entangled on their own
I stumbled and I tumbled and through the air I spun
And when I finally reached the ground, I'd returned where I'd begun

reply

Good job, nicely done!

reply

I hope you like it better than my first attempt.😜

reply

Excellent ! This displays some real creativity and talent.

reply

Thanks, db! I very much enjoy writing "secret santa" poems, but I've never really tried my hand at doing a serious one!😁

reply

now you are showing off.

actually it is very good.

reply

I might do one on Tom Brady!😜

In fading light
When darkness arrives
Let not hope subside as the stars will soon shine and the moon take flight
So colour the sky and colour it bright
With the colour of your soul

And my Old English Style poem

Let not sadness take thee
Nor distance conquer thee
For hath thou not the warmth of our memories?
Therefore I shall bid thee farewell
Wishing that the Angels of Fate may hasten our company once more

reply

Nicely done, good job!

In Xanadu, did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure dome decree
Where Alph the sacred river ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a Chuck E. Cheese.

A haiku:

What is a dime worth

If the coin cannot be flipped ?

Not a dime at all

"Consumed" (an original poem by Steve Allaby)

My heart always comes back to your being,
From the desire of you, there is no fleeing.
I'm haunted by the touch of your skin,
My mind consumed by the mystery within.
I can't escape the love I feel,
My feelings I can not conceal.
I long for only your sweet embrace,
I desperately need to touch your face.
Join me, my love, in this sensual quest,
Until I'm with you, I can not rest.
Obsessed with every inch of you,
know that my passion is true.
Without you, I won't survive the lonely day,
Take me and tell me you feel the same way.

Here are a couple more of my poems:

"A Psalm of Lament" (an original poem by Steve Allaby)
You ask how I feel,
This pain is so real.
I don't know why I feel this way,
Can I make it through another dark day?
I wish I could make myself smile,
I know it has been a long while.
My heart feels so broken,
My fears and pain go unspoken.
Will you hold me tight?
Will you tell me it will be alright?
Can I find the light?
Can I survive this night?
I reach out and weep for help, as I fall,
I will cling to hope no matter how small.
Please don't flee,
Just try and love me.

"The Power of a Friend's Love" (an original poem by Steve Allaby)
I desire to take away your pain,
I long to shield you from the rain.
Your hurts are breaking my heart,
I will hold you, if you fall apart.
I will love you with every drop of breath,
in light and darkness, in life and death.
Together, we can know the healing,
this pure love is what we are feeling.
No matter what we have been through,
this one thing must be true,
From the beginning to the end,
I will forever be your friend.

Rejected (an original poem by Brand New Poster)

are you bleeding out on the floor
while friends walk out the door
you feel like you lost it all
and can't rise from the fall
when death is the only hope
you are at the end of a rope
pain is the only friend
darkness is the only end
feeling alone and broken
silence is all that is spoken
