The coming death of just about every rock legend

This is depressing.

Behold the killing fields that lie before us: Bob Dylan (78 years old); Paul McCartney (77); Paul Simon (77) and Art Garfunkel (77); Carole King (77); Brian Wilson (77); Mick Jagger (76) and Keith Richards (75); Joni Mitchell (75); Jimmy Page (75) and Robert Plant (71); Ray Davies (75); Roger Daltrey (75) and Pete Townshend (74); Roger Waters (75) and David Gilmour (73); Rod Stewart (74); Eric Clapton (74); Debbie Harry (74); Neil Young (73); Van Morrison (73); Bryan Ferry (73); Elton John (72); Don Henley (72); James Taylor (71); Jackson Browne (70); Billy Joel (70); and Bruce Springsteen (69, but turning 70 next month).

Considering the abuse he has heaped upon his body to no apparent effect, I'm pretty sure Keith Richards will outlive all of us.

I always thought one of the funniest bits in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was when Keith Richards as Captain Teague responds to Jack Sparrows questions about whether he -- Teague -- had ever been to the Fountain of Youth.

While it is a grim tally, I can't blame anyone for making this list. We've lost Tom Petty, Bowie, Prince, Walter Becker (Steely Dan), two of the Monkees, 2/3s of Emerson Lake and Palmer, etc. It would be foolish not to reckon with what the future holds for our favorite musicians. The Boss might live another two decades. I hope all these people listed have licked whatever personal issues they may have had when younger (drugs and booze) and have the finances to have the best health care available.

Glenn Frey

Indeed. I think Axis TV had an Eagles Farewell from Melbourne with only four member in silhouette.
Frey and Henley, even if they collaborated well together, also seemed to have different sensibilities toward their music, so I don't know if I would like the Frey-less Eagles. (Don't know what Bernie Leadon is doing these days, but he'd be a wonderful stand-in.)
And I knew I was missing someone, and Glenn Frey would be that person, although I'm sure other notables have also passed in the last few years.

Mac Rebbenack, aka, Dr John The Night Tripper.
And even more - Leon Russell.
Both piano legends.

Does this impending doom bestowed on these rock legends mean that we will meet a similar fate?
Jesus they really make articles like this???

A lot of rock legends died young also.
Jim Morrison
Jimi Hendrix
Kurt Cobain
Janice Joplin
Buddy Holly
Richie Valens

Paul McCartneys Carpool Karaoke with James Coburn on Utube was really amazing. He went back to some of the places he grew up and sang to the locals. Really special.

reply

James Coburn?

reply

Yes. He goes back to the house he grew up in and sings some on the old piano. Then goes to a local bar and sings requests.

reply

The actor James Coburn?

reply

Sorry James Corden. But in my defense I said Car Pool Karaoke , which is pretty famous. So thats on you.
