The "Cats" trailer.
If you haven't seen it, it's a must-see for all the wrong reasons. https://youtu.be/gq50F-IDXDc

shareI don't know about all the wrong reasons, but no. The whole thing just never appealed to me, and I like musicals. Just not interested in this one.
shareThe CGI look abysmal and making the actor's faces so apparent makes it look creepy. The perspective is off on a lot of shots, too. I think they should have just kept them in costume.
shareBased on the trailer, yes, I agree with you. Kinda creepy.
sharethat seems to be the initial impression

I read the comments on YouTube and no one there is talking positive. And the like to dislike ratio isn't in the film's favour either.
shareHas anyone seen the stage show?
shareI think I've seen it 3 times
shareYou must have liked it if you've seen it three times.
shareI saw it twice in the 80s and once in the 90s. I have always liked cats because I loved the dancing. I wouldn't list it in my top 20 musicals or anything, but I think it did have it's moment. Just not sure that moment is now.
shareLike I said, I like musicals, including dance scenes, but this one just never piqued my interest. I have no idea why. Maybe it's as simple as people made up to look like animals?? Who knows?
shareYes, once...I'm just going to go ahead and claim that I was wickedly drunk...
It was sort of a nice show and the songs were sweet....Let's just pretend I didn't admit any of this:(
Sounds like one of those things you got roped into doing. But hey, if you've had a few it's not as bad. You have a few more and forget you were ever subjected to it! 😉
shareMy wife and her ridiculous plans...I got shanghaied that time!
The rum made it all better!
LOL. It's not all bad, is it?
shareI won't complain...A big dumbass with a pretty wife and a paying gig with lousy parking should probably shut his mouth!
There are worse fates;)
Yep. Ya gots to pick yer battles. This ain't one of 'em.
shareYou have never been wrong once!
shareOh, yes I have, but thanks for the kind thought. 😘
shareHoly cow!
10 thousand posts and counting!
You'll lap all of us big chatting boys in no time!
I love it!
I've met quite a few sweethearts on the internet, I'm rather happy to have staked a claim with a wonderful person like you!
You will always be my Dear Glenny-Girl❤️
Ah, Glenny-Girl. Makes me think of this song. Not sure why, but I love it.

At the rate I'm going, it'll take another two years to get to where you are now. You're a sweetheart, Shogie! 💋
Fine song and a good video...
I'll be here for many more years Glenny...I have nowhere else to be😉...pretty sure I'd not be welcome elsewhere lol!
You'll smash us boys yet...love you Glen!
No, I'll never catch you and Hownos. No way. Not that I'd even try.
shareI saw it in the 80s. It was mind numblingly awful.
shareI saw a production of it, not a Broadway cast but perhaps some touring company. They may have used some locals as extras, some of the members looked very young. It was fine. Not as much fun as Guys and Dolls or A Connecticut Yankee, but it was a pleasant evening.
shareTaylor Swift?? Rebel Wilson??
The main thing the trailer shows is something I’ve said all along: Cats is a one-song show.
Sort of seems that way, but maybe I just don't get it.
shareI'm sorry to disagree with you, but if you are referring to Memory, it is my least favourite song of the bunch. I also didn't care for Jennifer Hudson singing it and I usually like her. Granted I grew up reading 'Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats' and memory isn't in there. Seeing it on stage I think Mr Mistoffelees is the most entertaining, but I also love Old Deuteronomy, and Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer.
I will say though that I do think that the musical is very dated, and I find it odd that they are making a movie now.

It’s the most-remembered song from the show; so I stand by my statement. I read Old Possum’s when I was a child, but found the Broadway show boring. No, Memory is not in the book. It’s in the show to make a buck.
I agree that the show is dated. Webber/Rice have not aged well, and I never thought they woukd. Rogers/Hammerstein, and Sondheim, on the other hand . . .
Wow...that looks awful (as in I'm cringing for everybody in the thing awful!)
shareThe thing is that I'm absolutely fascinated with it. I've seen the trailer 4 times and I can't wrap my head around it. Why do the cats look like that? Why are the backgrounds fake looking? Why put the real faces on top of CGI? Why do they move that way? Why is the perspective off? Why is half the cast so bad? There are just too many questions and I'm bordering obsessed now.
shareI don't think your wrong but I think you just convinced me I need to see it😬
shareMaybe OT but I heard Taylor Swift is in the trailer, and I have this love/hate thing for her. I love seeing a photo of her; I find her fascinating to look at. But I saw her as part of a SNL skit and she was awful. To be fair, the whole skit was awful. But when I hear her trying to insert herself into things outside of her own career, she seems like famous-for-being-famous and a shameless self-promoter.
shareIn other words, Taylor Swift should stick to singing, right?
shareI guess that's what I'm saying, except I don't even care for her music, either. I just like her look(s). She seems a little narcissistic, but she's young so if ya got it, flaunt it. And if she can prove herself in a different field, that'd be great. I'm just a bit skeptical she has it in her, and sometimes it's painful to see people doing things not well. Like Clint Eastwood singing.
shareLMAO oh lord! Some gems from the YouTube comments section:
"How can a studio in 2019 that can afford so many high profile actors have such nightmarishly terrible animation?"
"I want to officially apologize for calling out the Sonic trailer creepy and uncanny valley"
"Well... I haven't even seen it and I'm asking for a refund"
"If this were a faceoff episode they’d be sent home immediately"
"Whatever happens on Broadway, STAYS ON BROADWAY. GOT THAT?!"
"“They were so preoccupied with whether or not they could they didn’t stop to think if they should.”"
"places into "Atheism Evidence" folder"
"Human James Corden is horrifying enough, the cat version is downright offensive"
"I have wanted a thundercat movie for so long"
"This new Island of Dr Moreau movie looks super creepy!"
"I'm a furry and even I don't want to have anything to do with this."
I agree with the Sonic quote. I felt like such a complainer when I criticized the Sonic trailer but after seeing the Cats trailer, Sonic suddenly turned into something I appreciated. Cats is doing things to me emotionally that I never thought was possible.
