I just did it. The first twenty minutes didn't ring a bell, then suddenly, one scene hit me. I figured since it was only twenty minutes in and I hardly remember what happens, I might as well finish it. I felt like such an idiot not knowing a movie I had already seen.
I was worried I was slowly losing my mind. I'm guessing it happens when you watch a lot of movies and after time passes you lose all memory of certain ones.
definitely. happened quite recently in fact. i was watching some trashy thing on tubitv as i so often do, and at some point quite far into it i realized i must have seen it before - & went to letterboxd to find that not only had i seen it before, i'd watched it on that exact day precisely one year ago.
here's my letterboxd review, just to prove it happened, not that it will mean anything to anyone besides me...
blood rage (1987) 3.5/5
about thirty minutes in, i realized i'd seen this before, so i checked on letterboxd & sure enough i found that i had indeed watched this - exactly one year ago today - march 17, 2018. funny old world sometimes.
anyway, i was happy to sit through the entire thing again. it's very silly, but it has some passable gore & some attractive women & some atrocious acting & ridiculous plotting. i had fun. i might even make this an annual tradition.
I'm sure it's happened to me, too. I tune in to a movie I think I've never seen, but then scenes start to look familiar. The silly part is I keep watching because I can't remember how it ends...until the end. THEN a 💡 turns on and I realize yep, I saw it before and sometimes not all that long ago. And I didn't really like it! Sheesh.
I haven't done it yet with a physical dvd/blu-ray, but I find myself doing it more and more on streaming services. I had the same experience a few days ago. Scene looked familiar and I knew I'd seen it before, but no recollection of where it was going or how it ended until I got there. You are not alone!!
