My prediction for the 2030s

Most will use artificial intelligence programs to act as personal assistants.

This is how it works. You let app learn about you, what you like, do, go, interact with etc.

By doing this, it came learn to help you like "hey, shouldn't you be getting ready for Yoga? I know it's early but I can see that the traffic is bad. "

Or you're writing a message and it says "can I finish?"
And it will have a reply that it thinks you'd say.

But it also gets to know your health.
"You seem a bit tired today, you're walking 20% slower , you might need to take it easy, you were out way too late three nights in a row."

Apple will calls theirs iHelper, google will call theirs P.A.-ME (personally assistant me).

People will look back oddly at a time when only the rich had personal assistants, or you had to self manage.

This is already underway with Alexa, Siri and etc. Their software uses some form of A.I. and heuristics, machine learning and pattern recognition probably as of now. The employment of this in stuff like personal assistance type work can depend on how far this can go vs. humans as assistants in the timeframe. But stuff like Alexa, Siri and etc. are already learning stuff about users in multiple ways (search suggestions; voice requests; etc.). These setups can use your data to sort of build an "intelligence data network" kind of thing where it can try and familiarize itself with your interests over time based on your interaction/voice data, purchase history and just about anything else. You don't even need manual-type reminders that much as (think with web browsing) like you get targeted ads, but with heuristics or machine learning/pattern recognition these devices use are already sort of like assistants to people in ways by suggesting or telling you of new types of similar products you buy; new products to view; recommendations of news/media/habits/activities; you name it basically.

They're far from Rosie/Rosey in The Jetsons level of capability, but purely for voice interaction/reminders/learning some tidbits about you and your use/data/requests/etc. they're pretty good but still have lots of room to get better.

The ramifications are also for AI to speak to other AI's about you and vice versa. People will switch this on for dating purposes.

"Hey, did you know that there is someone who works in your building who also loves The Beatles, quiz shows and eating out? He's single. Can we arrange a meet up?"

reply

True. That is one potential use of it I didn't think of.

reply

AI is going to be what google maps is for navigation.

reply

No thanks. This is just creepy. I can think for myself. What else are you going to do with your brain? Though probably a moot point in my case - I'll be dead by then. Or so old I won't care or partake.

reply

It's started but will be mainstream in 11 years .

reply

Still, even if I'm still around, I won't be part of this.

I just switched my TV service to FIOS and when they installed it, they tried to hook me up to the voice-activated remote feature. I told them no and made them give me a manual remote.

Did you know that all new cars with computers record everything and send that data to the car company? You gotta be careful about what you agree to.

reply

Yeah, that bothers me. It's really unnecessary if you're a responsible enough person to keep up on your own maintenance, but I don't like giving someone else the ability to track my movements. Bad enough your phone will do that if you leave it on.

reply

We aren't yet evolved enough as a species to do this and have it end well.

reply

AI will do to life what the smartphone did to us, but times 10.

We’ll be one step closer to the world in Idiocracy. Japan will have perfected sexbots.

I want one!!

reply

YOU NEED ONE.

reply

Totally!

LOL!
