I never realised that 1979 was such a great year for film. Out of all the ones listed, Being There is one I've always wanted to watch - thanks for the reminder.

I've seen most, but the only great one I'd say from 1980 is "The Elephant Man" and one not on your list which I'd recommend - "La Terrazza".

I can't think of any great movies after that in the 80s, maybe two or three from 90s, and a couple since then, while I could (and have) easily named 10 from each year from 1939-1979.
