I tip 1 dollar, my mom wants me to tip 3 which I think is too much, I don’t see very many people tip anything.

Australian here, we don't have a tipping culture at all. Even places that have a tips jar don't go above and beyond service wise.

I don't tip unless someone does an exceptional job. Also, the standards for tipping are weird. We tip cab drivers but not bus drivers?

Yes. 20%. If there is a different person doing the shampoo, I give them 3% and the stylist 18%

Which country are you from, as it’s always useful to know what the local policy is on tipping?

Australia. It's not something we really do because of high wages.

Yep. Two or three bucks depending if the person has been friendly and took some time, rather than getting it done quickly. I enjoy the interaction, if she's pretty, all the better. Tipping for a haircut seems like a given.

Btw, if anyone is interested, there's a thread in Reservoir Dogs that discusses tipping. It's pretty funny.
