Catholics seem more broken up about Notre Dame than abusive priests

Ironic, considering they are Catholics too. Even non-Christians and Protestants were disturbed by what happened with the fire.

Even more disturbing is the rate of incidence at current in the public school system of sexual abusers put in positions of authority. If there was truly a scientific method to ferret them out why is it not being employed by school administrators and school boards? The Catholic Church has been in decline in the West for decades as younger people gravitate towards secular culture. Parochial schools have closed in many areas. How are these priests reaching young people when the young people have not inhabited the church institutions in many decades. Not making excuses for what happened and may be happening in the Church but the trend away from religion by most young people is taking care of the problem. What are you doing about incidents of abuse in public schools where you are? Surely, you must know that most predators go where the prey is and that is not the local Catholic Church.
