Should schools ban things like mothers day/fathers day? Offensive?
What about orphans? Foster kids? Children of single parents or same sex parents? Do these events just cause children who don't have a mother or father heartache?

shareIf so then valentines day should go as well. Also international women's day because it's leaves out everyone who isn't a woman. Also every religious holiday because of other religions and people who has no religion. It's a deep hole when you start digging into this subject.
shareAs long as it's not mandated by the goverment then it's okay. People can celebrate, say, Hanukkah, while I don't and that's okay.
shareGoogle actually banned the word "family" for their employees in internal communications. Family.
shareWell it's offensive to people without families lol
shareNC is right. 'Family'? Seriously? That word offends people?
I mean, 'family' has such a wider meaning these days in any case. People speak of their 'family' without necessarily referring to their blood relatives. Some people refer to their close colleagues and network of friends as 'family'.
Then again, since some of us are unemployed and some of us are friendless, maybe we should ban the world completely...[*eyeroll*]
Honestly, I'm fed-up with Google's attempts to brainwash people. I wish there was a decent rival search engine.
The irony is that Google is using its power supposedly for good, in order to make us a more liberal and progressive society, whilst ignoring the fact that it only has that power via a monopoly and because it doesn't pay its fair share of tax, which are two of the least progressive business practices one can imagine.
But hopefully, we're now seeing the rise of the populists, left and right-wing, like Bernie Sanders, who will challenge the neoliberal consensus, and ensure that we're not simply focused on cultural and social justice, but also socioeconomic justice.
Getting rid of the family has been a goal since Plato. It's the foundation of progressivism, the number one source of inequality.
shareThe goal shouldn't be to get rid of family, and the love and warmth it can provide, something the State, even at its best, cannot truly replicate. It should be to ensure everyone has a family, real or surrogate.
shareWell, childen without a father can always pretend to have an angel impregnate their virgin mothers... No big deal.
sharethey all have a biological mom & pop of some sort , even if they never met.
Drop mother's day and father's day and just have one day called "Guardian's Day". We can celebrate, mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, caretakers and so on.
shareThey pretty much did that 30 some years ago in my school. Although they were still called mother's/father's day every teacher that I had said that it could be anyone who took on that role for you, even if they weren't related.

But children still has inequal physicalities, inequal intelligence, inequal moralities, inequal beauty, etc. The only way to ensure that there is no equality would be to eradicate all humans.
Only then, there will be no one left to be offended. Or to offend. Win-win!

Of course, I am most geenious.

Why are those days offensive? And HOLY SHIT, will people EVER run out of things to be offended by????
