It's the pictures that got small

I am really getting into Billy Wilder, in particular I'm watching Sunset Boulevard over and over and I can't get enough. Have you seen his films? I think I'll watch Ace in the Hole or The Apartment next.

Ace in the Hole is one of my favorites. Douglas is great.

I love Kirk. I feel like he'd be a really difficult person to know personally but he's fun to watch. Paths of Glory is a favorite.

One of the best. His films still hold up.

Have not seen it

I love that movie. I was thinking yesterday about how Joe replaced the chimp, whose name I don’t believe we learn.

Here’s a great little bit on the symbolism of the chimp in Sunset Blvd:

"Don't you understand? Before Joe Gillis came along, Norma Desmond was f-ing the monkey!"
Billy Wilder (supposedly).

Watch The Apartment. It's a depressing and hopeful movie at the same time.

Ace in the Hole and The Apartment are both excellent!
