Best of luck to him
There is a lady in Italy who is 119 years old so...maybe if he watches his diet and stays off the menthols...
Jeanne Calment who is the oldest documented person in history started smoking when she was 18 and stopped at 118, then she kept going until 122 with no real issues except poor sight and hearing, so it's not all about living a healthy life, just having good genes can get you really far. That italian lady is close though, would be cool if she could surpass the record :-)
shareWow, had to look her up
She met Vincent Van Gogh when she was a kid!
Yep, let's hope these Levi's fit right
Yeah, she met him right at the end of his life, if to believe her story, there is a movie about it called Vincent And Me where she has a brief role as herself. A fascinating woman.
shareGood stuff Ged
Can you imagine living through two World Wars, the moon landing, Vietnam and the Cold War, The Great Depression, affordable cars replacing horses...I cannot
I hope that lady wrote a book
Mind-blowing experiences!
She was born when america was in the middle of the old west and died when internet was starting to take off XD

My Aunt has done that, except she just barely missed WW I. She's 99.

And I plan to win the lottery and retire to my private island.
I think my odds of success are better than his.
Would be sad if he was hit and killed by a car or something after spending all that money.
shareIt'd also be sad if he spent 100 years being old and frail. Because living 200 years is no good, unless you can make your youth last longer, or at least your middle age.
I should claim to be a scientist working on changing human cell apoptosis and ask him for a grant, anything for the private island fund.
Yeah, he would be completely blind, deaf and immovable, there is a reason you kick the bucket around 100, because living much past that is just gonna suck and have no point. Even perfect health isn't going to prevent that, not sure he thought things through.
shareIrony comes more to mind for me because it reminds me of an incident in a community where I once lived. It concerned what was once a popular tourist attraction that had gone progressively further into disrepair. A local millionaire wanted to buy and revitalize it but the owner was obstinate and they haggled over it for quite some time. Eventually, a deal was struck. I don't remember the exact amount of money involved but it was substantial. Within several days of it being finalized, the owner had a massive heart attack on the golf course which killed him. So, he was never really able to enjoy any of that money. The added irony of the situation was that he was playing golf with his doctor.
shareDeath is fair in that way, it doesn't care who or what you are, we all have a limited time and since we don't know how much we shouldn't waste it arguing over physical possessions. We all end up in a coffin anyway.
