funny how i've managed to never see wizard of oz. it was never on the tv when i was a kid as i recall, & i don't feel any great pressing need to see it as a tired, middle aged man.

You should definitely see it, regardless of how old you are. It is a wonderful classic, and it's for all ages.

reply

I have not seen 4, 13 and 14.

reply

Well get your rear in gear and see them, LDG!

No way am I going to watch that Beatles movie. I've already seen Help! and that was more than enough.

reply

A Hard Day's Night was better than Help! It was their best movie, and you can get the DVD from Netflix.
So get thee hence LDG, and see it. And then get back to me with a full report! That is all.

reply

I am impressed.

reply

I'm kind of surprised as well. But it seems most of these movies used to be shown on tv regularly.

That is an excellent list, and I've seen all 20. However, I would add:

2001:A Space Odyssey
A Clockwork Orange
Gone With The Wind
Lawrence of Arabia
Bridge on the River Kwai
Raiders of the Lost Ark
12 Angry Men
The African Queen
Vertigo
North by Northwest
The Godfather Parts 1 and 2
Dr. Strangelove
Duck Soup
The Shawshank Redemption

I guess I would be a flop at compiling a top 20 list.

reply

Dr. Strangelove should be somewhere on that list for sure
