separatist movements in the USA
Hello everybody,
Are there any separatist movements in the USA? If yes, how strong (or not) are they?
Hello everybody,
Are there any separatist movements in the USA? If yes, how strong (or not) are they?
There are a bunch...only a few are well organized, well armed and coherent
Most seem to be racist or anti-federal government leaning...assholes in other words
Some seem to shout about Jews, Blacks, Mexicans (they use different terms but you get me)
It's all pretty pathetic really
Why do you ask, google is so easy
Hi, thank you for your answer.
Yes, I could search it in Google, but I wanted to "speak"with other people about this subject. I know that there are such racist or anti-federal movements in the USA.
I wonder, if there are also some political separatist aspirations like in Europe (e.g in the UK, Italy or Spain) in the way that someone there say: "I am only Californian/Texan, I am not like the other US- Americans".
I hope you can understand what I mean.
It won't mount to much.
shareexactly - most are online, youtube
sharewe went through this here in Canada. A complete waste of time.
shareI don't think many believe it.. They're just making money off the chaos of the moment and using identity to unite, and then do the bait-and-switch to their real interests - usually agent provocateurs or controlled opposition (usually hired by domestic spying programs).. Just like the infiltration we NOW know about in the 60s.
What is scary is that a real movement based on humanism probably wouldn't take place if it was radical, because its all done online, and even the idea that everyone is being recorded halts "real" talk.
hard to say
sharewhich state ??
shareNo State
Separatists are all talk, spend money on firepower they should be saving for their kid's education and too often hold very trashy racial views
Frankly, these sorts are a national embarrassment...phony tough guys pretending they don't benifit from the government trough
As if their guns could compete with the US military... The NRA panders to people who are genuinely fearful.
shareYeah...no contest there!
I do have a fine assortment of arms and a boatload of ammo...just in case
Helps me sleep tbh
It's just comforting to know that a bunch of iron and lead is stored upstairs, oiled and ready to go
Doubt I'll ever need it
Certainly hope not!
What gets me is when some guy grazes his cattle on public land then won't pay for that privilege and seems to think the land is his to do with as he chooses. Cows trample grass and that land can be used for other purposes for the greater good. He can separate himself any way he chooses, as long as authorities out number him and his followers.
shareI was talking to some idiots on Discord recently who were sooooo certain that all Hawaiians wanted to break away from the US and become an independent country. I laughed my bum off at them and pointed out the ridiculousness of that entire idea, not to mention that most Hawaiians are happy to be American citizens and to be protected as such. They wouldn't last a week without us.
All the little snot could do was pretend it didn't hear me and call me "ignorant," despite all the facts I laid on the table for it.
Most separatist movements are too small to be of notice beyond amusing people for a year or so before everyone gets bored and ignores them again. It would take a lot for any state to leave the US, and they made it near impossible, to tell the truth.
Thank you for all your comments.
Although, in order to be honest, I did not understand a couple of the statements posted here, it seems that such movements in the States are not to be taken seriously, or at least they are not big enough to involve an important part of the population in any State over there (with the exception, perhaps, of Puerto Rico).
It's all right, I'll clarify. There are quite a few reasons Hawaii will never break away from the U.S.
1. Laws of Secession - You need approval in the US government, as well as votes of "yes" from 36 states, and I have yet to think of 36 states that would be happy to let Hawaii break away.
2. Isolation & Protection - Hawaii is extremely isolated out there in the Pacific ocean. That's why they are a stopping point for ships and planes traveling across the Pacific, because it takes a long time to cross, even with today's travel technology. It would be extremely foolhardy for our navy and air force to give up such a strategic area for naval and air force bases. The Chinese would also invade within a week, and Hawaii alone doesn't have the resources to produce its own navy, weapons, fuel, ships, soldiers, ammunition, or airplanes in order to defend itself without the US's help. Last time I checked, none of the islands has the ability to produce any of that stuff.
3. Food - A great deal of Hawaii's food is imported. The islands do not have the land area or fish population required to feed or provide all the nutrients the locals would need to survive without food sent in by the US. One major benefit of being a US state that imports food from the mainland is, the prices are lower. If Hawaii became an independent country, the prices of food would skyrocket, along with import costs. They would starve and be broke within a week.
4. Recognition - Even if they did become an independent nation, many countries would not recognize them as a sovereign nation, and like I said before, someone like China would come in to take them over almost immediately after we pulled our ships and airplanes out.
5. History - according to an eyewitness from 1959 who saw Hawaii becoming a state, she told me she vividly remembers how thousands of Hawaiian school children were asked if they wanted to become American citizens, and every single one wrote letters to the president at the time, asking to become US citizens. It was almost unanimous among everyone living on Hawaii at the time that they wanted the benefits of being American citizens.
Like I said, it's never gonna happen.
