I think it's long past the time when Christmas lights and decorations should be down and put away. There are still quite a few homes in my neighborhood that still have all of their outdoor lights, etc. up and turned on every night. Season's over, folks! It just looks tacky now. π¬

I understand completely that there are some folks with physical limitations. Weather is sometimes a legitimate excuse for not taking them down within a reasonable time. It's not fun after a heavy snowfall or during an extreme cold spell.

It's nasty out there tonight. We got twice as much snow as they predicted. It's not that much - only 9" - it's what we call a nuisance snowstorm. But again, the wind is going to make it a bigger problem. I've shoveled twice since yesterday and it's hard to tell.

shareWell, at one house across the street they leave them up and on all year long. I think it was two years ago, at Halloween time, they put up two lame strings of lights, one green, one pink. They sort of draped them over one side of the porch railings and then up around the support beam for the porch roof and the grapevine wreath hanging below it. They're on 24/7. Talk about tacky...and I still don't understand the color choice for Halloween. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
I've noticed quite a few houses that leave their lights up all year long, but at least they stop turning them on. I see them wrapped around pine trees and bushes when I walk by, and can't help but wonder how long they'll last if they're subjected to the elements all year.

I really do want the best lights in the neighborhood for the big holidays and I do take a mental note on anybody that bests me...ridiculous behavior, I know:/
