Things that are/were sold at the "wrong" place

Name them.

Trump Steaks sold at The Sharper Image
Swedish Meatballs sold at IKEA

Tampax and Cigarettes from the Ice Cream van. The cigs were handy though 👍

Candy at the hardware store which reeks of sawdust, pesticides and paint. Not enticing.

Clothes at the hardware store. Not talking work overalls, but regular street clothes with the hardware store brand label smacked on the backpocket. Not classy.

Engagement rings at Costco. The rings look nice and all but it is weird buying a ring in a warehouse that also sells bulk toilet paper and diapers. Not romantic.

But toilet paper and diapers are absolutely necessary for starting a successful marriage.

One doesn't have to be scrupulously honest about every detail. Don't lie about the value of said ring, maybe you can be vague about which jeweler it came from, but you don't have to announce you had to buy ten engagement rings at Costco because that's how they were packaged. XD

Mini vibrators in Poundland!

If anything, that sounds like a super appropriate store name for that particular item.

I found a bunch of kinky dildos at Petco, but it turned out they were "dog toys."

Yeah right, Petco. Just like how those spiked collars and leather leashes aren't for dominatrix play.

I never go to Starbucks, but one of the times I did (back when it was not an international chain), I noticed a selection of CDs for sale. I'm always interested in Charles Mingus so I picked-up Mingus in a Soulful Mood. Still, I couldn't see why 'bucks was selling CDs on top of their own product. And this Mingus comp seemed to be cherry picking the most easy listening selections one could find with CM as the leader. Had I seen it in a music shop, I'm sure I would have looked at it curiously then gave it a pass. It's not on one of his usual labels.
