The word "often"

Which is the right way to pronounce it? With the "t" or without? I hear both.

reply

both are acceptable but I use the T

reply

I use the t.

reply

With the t.

reply

With the t! Also...important...yes people...there IS a t at the end! Nothing bugs me more than impotan😠

reply

What about superfluous 'T's? I hear some folks say exactly like it has 2 Ts. Exact-tly.

reply

I've heard that...doesn't bother me....although I prefer egg zactly!😉

reply

sans

reply

I've heard it pronounced both ways, and according to my dictionary, both are correct. I use the t.

😎

reply

I tend to go with the silent t pronunciation.

reply

In Australia we don't pronounce the "T". Then again we pronounce Australia as "Oz-tra-ya" so we don't really give a shit about the way things are spelled.

reply

I don't usually use it. But in my dialect it's 'offen.'

reply

I'm pretty sure I use the t and I'm Australian. Then again, I don't pronounce the letter H with an H at the start (a very annoying thing that many Aussies do. Drives me insane!).

reply

As in the way many Americans pronounce "Herbs" which sounds more like "Erbs"?

reply

Yeah , "H" the letter is meant to be pronounced 'aitch'
Wheres the American "Erbs" thing is just weird .
Whys it just herbs and not other h-words? (which would be even worse)

reply

Hour, honest, honor...
