Megan Kelly gets fired for saying "blackface". WTF is society coming to.

How else do you dress as Diana Ross if you don't apply dark make-up, since Ross is dark? Megan also said "white-face", according to the article. So what. Then Kelly--like the other journalists--make a tearful "apology" to make atonement which they should not have to do. (and you know it's not sincere, since people don't change just like that). Or am I missing other details about what "offensive" thing she said?

If this has already been covered on the board, let me know and I will delete.

Or put it on the Today Show page - it could use some fresh posts.

'Today Show' is what the page is titled??

reply

Apparently it's just "Today."

It really didn’t warrant termination. I think they were just looking for an excuse to pull the plug on her show.

That's my take on it also. Maybe Jane bribed them

With that incident, both women needed to get over themselves. The difference is that Fonda could get away with her revenge, while Kelly's revenge (citing "Hanoi Jane") was too early in her show to do, and probably backfired on her.

Why would Jane need to bribe anyone when Kelly's ratings were imploding her show on all her own?

reply

ah..that was a joke.

reply

But why can't the low-ratings be enough of a reason to terminate the show? Shows are canceled routinely due to low-ratings (without an excuse). Sorry, confused.

I don't care what she said, can't stand her. Just so happy she was canned. IMO, it was so much less about her comments, and all about the exorbitant salary she got. I bet TPTB were looking at any damn way to be rid of her😎
